Work-Study Positions

Some campus jobs are designated as work-study positions. The job description might include a statement such as: “position open only to St. Edward’s students who qualify for work-study awards.” Work-study awards are part of federal financial aid packages and are only available to U.S. citizens and permanent residents. F-1/J-1 students are not eligible for a work-study position and should not apply.

Finding a Job

Use the search tool, Handshake. This database advertises both on-campus and off-campus jobs. On-campus jobs are also advertised on flyers posted around campus. Career and Professional Development (CAPD) also has helpful resources and tips related to finding jobs, including Pathway U (resource to discover your values, interests, personality and workplace preferences).

Useful Filters in Handshake

Above the job posting information, students may filter job postings using a keyword search or one of the pre-built filters. Click All Filters to select from more filters, including on-campus jobs and part-time jobs. You can also use the filters under “work authorization” to find jobs that will sponsor or don’t require a US work visa and/or accept OPT/CPT.
